Five Bad To Worst Book To Movie Adaptations

As a book reader there is nothing more nerve wrecking than   seeing a movie based on the book you have read. I think it is difficult to completely please a book reader because we all have different interpretations and different actor/actress imagined in our heads to play a certain role. I mean, come on, who doesn't visualize their favorite book scenes? It's fun!

But we readers are also aware that as amazing as the book might have been not everything can be shown in a two hour and something movie ( we are a compromising lot, you see )What irks me is when the movie makers butcher the entire story while only keeping the name of the book but none of its plot which results in an  end product that lets down everyone who has ever grown attached to the book.

The Vampire Academy

In all fairness, this movie does make an attempt to stay true to the book and the whole Moroi and  Dhampir hierarchy is well explained but instead of the dark and intense feel the vampire academy has to itself this looks more like a typical high school movie with a supernatural twist. The chemistry between Rose and Dimitri is supposed be scorching but in the movie it is luke-warm at best, which aside from the cast except Zoey Deutch is yet another thing that had disappointed me. The book series have been a major part of my teens and I think it deserves to be on screen so lets hope they recast and make a drama series of these books like the mortal instruments.

The Divergent Trilogy

Divergent movie is an amazing transition of the book on the screen. Aside from having an amazing cast it is loyal to the book but then second movie comes out....then the third comes out.....

So many important characters where brushed off into the background along with character development and everything else that made the story interesting replacing it with bizarre and unnecessary CGI effects that instead of gripping my attention (as I'm guessing it was intended to ) made me count down minutes to the movie's end.

The Mortal Instruments

I remember that I had started crying right after seeing the trailer of this movie for the first time. I really liked the book but I was sure they were going to ruin the story in the movie and I wasn't wrong . No offense to anyone but I didn't like the casting much and what pissed me off was the weird as hell second half of the movie. Nobody literally nobody had wanted it and no body had liked watching it .

The Fifth Wave

Alien invasion is one of the favorite themes of Hollywood so when this amazing book by Rick Yancy came out it 's no wonder that it got picked up to be turned into a movie. Too bad the screenplay writers were too lazy to stick to this brilliantly written story so they regurgitated everything ever that had happened in every sci-fi,dystopian movie to ever exist. Cassie's dangerous journey and  survival in a world that has been ravaged by powerful aliens and her struggles to get to her younger brother are all flushed down the drain giving us viewers a movie the likes of which we have seen only a few hundred times before.

Percy Jackson Movies

I don't know who thought it would be nice to make a movie based on a book that isn't anything like the book!

The actors weren't of the age the characters in the book are supposed to be ,the Greek Gods and Goddess aren't explained clearly, the trio seems lack luster with Grover trying to be funny, Annabeth seems like an over eager schoolgirl rather than a badass that she is in the books and Percy.....let's not even go there.

The plot of the movie is absolute trash. It seems no one on the movie making team bothered to read the books because ,Why ? Why follow the fabulous books when you can create something that is migraine inducing?

As a person who loved the phenomenal books written by Rick Riordan I'm thoroughly and absolutely disappointed and disgusted by the way these movies have been made and the only thing that is good about the movies is that after the two disasters they have stopped making them.
